NO RIVAL featured on Adobo Nation
NO RIVAL was recently featured on an episode of Adobo Nation. Adobo Nation is a weekly magazine talk program that seamlessly blends elements of news and lifestyle topics relevant to Filipino-Americans living in the US. It is the one-stop pop-culture program with a Filipino-American twist. The staff made us feel really comfortable on the set. A big thank you to Adobo Nation for inviting us on the show!

NO RIVAL | DJ Neil Armstrong
Mixtape DJ extraordinaire, Adidas global brand ambassador, AND Jay-Z tour DJ, DJ Neil Armstrong, showed NO RIVAL some love recently on his personal blog on Hypebeast...http://hypebeast.com/blog/djneilarmstrong/2010/10/san-fran-love-from-mixcrate-com-fully-laced-no-rival-adapt-and-breezy-excursion
This is extremely humbling coming from one of the most well-respected artists in the game. I remember purchasing any and all DJ Neil Armstrong mixtapes from boutiques on both coasts. His mixtapes illustrate the beauty of hip hop music and the art's innovative use of sampling early on. In his mixtapes, you have the opportunity to hear where the artists sample and inspiration originated from. I actually gave my girl a "Warmfuzzy" CD a few years back as part of her Valentine's Day gift...furreal. It kept me from having to put together a mixtape myself. Plus, I can't do it as well as DJ Neil Armstrong, so I figured, why even try.
The mixtapes are creative, sentimental, humorous, and bring a smile to peoples faces upon every listen. DJ Neil Armstrong is not ashamed to include the guilty pleasures either, whether it's New Edition or Hall & Oates. Really...it's perfectly fine...if it's good enough for your favorite hip hop artist to sample, well...

Machine Gone Funk @ IBE 2009
The legendary Machine Gone Funk crew recently traveled to Holland for the Notorious IBE (International Breakdance Event). The following video is a battle that went down during IBE 2009 between Machine Gone Funk and Salah & Friends. All members of Machine Gone Funk are wearing our upcoming No Rival - Machine Gone Funk t-shirts in this footage. The back of the shirt reads, "I live for the funk. NO RIVAL Season 2 Available Now!!!
The first wave of 2nd season NO RIVAL t-shirts are now available at http://www.norival.com! Many of these shirts have only been available at select events up until now. The new shirts include designs that were done in collaboration with the dance crews Supreme Soul and Academy of Villains and were produced in limited quantities, so act quickly.

No Rival on Built From Skratch (Episode 48)
No Rival is featured on one of the most recent episodes of Built From Skratch on the MYX Network. We are featured on Episode 48, which is an episode dedicated to hip hop influenced apparel.

World of Dance Tour - Pomona & New Account!!!
No Rival will be exhibiting at the World of Dance Tour at the Pomona Fairplex in Pomona, CA on Saturday April 4th. We will have all of our designs available for purchase including the "I AM A BEAST" shirts which still have not hit our web store because we can't keep them in stock! The World of Dance is the largest U.S. urban dance and hip hop competition. Hundreds of participants, the country’s top Dance Troupes, and thousands of spectators will partake in a performance festival setting, awarding today’s top dancers and b boys with the most prestigious acknowledgements. Our homeboy, Pharside, from the infamous Supreme Soul will be a featured judge at this year's show. I heard the Lost Kids from San Francisco will be performing AND Smart Mark from Phresh Select out of Philly will be representing.
On another note, NO RIVAL just picked up a new distributor in Northern California. You can now find NO RIVAL goods at "The Edge". "The Edge" is one of the best independently owned men's clothing stores in the Bay Area. The store carries over 70 different labels ranging from denim to wovens to tees to watches AND shoes. They specialize in casual denim-inspired attire, pulling from the fashion forward L.A. and N.Y. scene. The shop has a clean and contemporary style and is very comfortable to browse. A friendly and knowledgeable staff always greets customers as they enter the store. Customers are also offered a complimentary bottle of water or coffee to fuel their shopping. Oh...and the bottled water...it's the store's own brand of water!!! DOPE!!! This is a store that caters to the male shopper with discerning taste that expects nothing but the best. Supreme Soul @ Street Fighter IV Launch Party
Here is some more video footage of Supreme Soul performing at the Street Fighter IV Launch Party in Los Angeles last week. The members are all wearing the NO RIVAL "I AM A BEAST" ZEBRA t-shirts. Half of the crew is wearing the white/black colorway and the other half is wearing the black/purple colorway. All of the "BEAST" shirts will be available at Battlefest this weekend in San Jose and we will be posting a majority of our Spring designs on the NO RIVAL web site shortly thereafter. Supreme Soul x No Rival
Ahhhhhh yeah!!!! I know it's been a minute since we hit you with an update, but good things come to those who wait...at least that's what I've been told. Well, this time it's true. I am pleased to announce that No Rival has been working hard behind the scenes on a collaborative project with the one and only SUPREME SOUL from MTV's America's Best Dance Crew - Season 2. If you have not seen the show or know who I am talking about, you need to do your homework and check them out. They are one of the greatest dance crews on this planet and they proved it in front of millions of viewers on ABDC this year. The good people at No Rival, like many others all over the globe, have been inspired by Supreme Soul's style and attitude. We believe there is no rival to the art they are creating...this art known as urban dance. Each member of the crew has their own specialty under the "umbrella" of urban dance, whether it's breakdancing, house, popping, locking, hip-hop, etc. When these guys fully utilize their individual talents and come together to put on a performance, they are a BEAST!!! Their shows are out of control!!! Trust.
So, enough already...What's up with the designs, fool!? Well, when No Rival and Supreme Soul got together we wanted to kick off the project with a series of shirt designs that defined the essence and the attitude of this fierce dance crew. I think Supreme Soul said it best themselves when they said, "Individually, the members of our crew see themselves as "beasts" of their own style, but collectively, we create a "monster.' With that, Supreme Soul member, Pharside, came up with the tagline for our first wave of shirts...
Exclusive ZEBRA/PURPLE colorway coming to our web site and No Rival distributors...
These shirts are being worn by the members of Supreme Soul during their performances on the latest leg of their tour up in Canada. Be on the lookout for video of these performances on YouTube shortly. The shirts will be available for sale in late January via the NR web site, NR distributors, and at Supreme Soul performances.
It has been fantastic working with a crew that really embodies the spirit and idea behind our brand. NO RIVAL @ TRUE Women
The TRUE Womens store in San Francisco just picked up some NO RIVAL female tees. If you happen to be out on Haight Street getting your shop on, make sure to hit up the store and pick up one of our shirts if you haven't already done so. There is a huge amount of fresh gear for the Fall at the TRUE Womens store right now. Started in San Francisco in July 1996, TRUE ventured to fill a void: No stores on Haight Street were selling hip hop gear. In those days, hip hop clothing was Wu Wear, Phat Farm, and a bunch of labels that you probably never heard of and aren’t around anymore. Twelve years later True is still on Haight Street selling hip hop gear. As the times have changed, so has “hip hop” gear. The lines between hip hop, street, skate, punk are blurring. Currently, the cool guy movement is an example of that blurring. TRUE has always been a big believer in not stereotyping people and that carries over into how they merchandise their stores. TRUE Women's objective is to provide fashionable, strong, independent, and female owned and inspired brands.
